Alan Wilson has won the Republican primary runoff for governor of South Carolina, defeating Lt. Gov. Pamela Evette.
The runoff was necessitated after neither candidate secured a majority in the initial primary held on June 9, where Evette received 28.9% of the vote and Wilson 26.2%.
Wilson will now face Democratic state Rep. Jermaine Johnson in the general election scheduled for November 3, 2026.
Wilson's victory in the primary positions him to compete in a state that has historically favored Republican candidates for governor, having not elected a Democrat since 1998.

“I can’t hurt one of them by only endorsing the other, so, therefore, I am going to endorse, for Governor of South Carolina, both Pam Evette and Alan Wilson!”
“I have always been very loyal to the president. I've traveled wherever he's asked me to help stump for him, fundraise for him.”
