U.S. Congressman Ro Khanna reported being detained during a visit to the West Bank, where he was surrounded by Israeli settlers.
Khanna, a California Democrat, was on a three-day tour of the West Bank when the incident occurred. He was visiting the ruins of Khirbet Zanuta, a Palestinian village, to observe the impact of Israeli occupation.
Khanna stated that he and his team were held for approximately 90 minutes by settlers who blocked their vehicle. He alleged that when the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) arrived, they did not assist him but instead sided with the settlers, a claim disputed by the IDF, which stated they were there to disperse civilians blocking the road.
The incident highlights ongoing tensions in the region and raises questions about the treatment of U.S. citizens in the occupied territories.

“How dare they mistreat people with an American passport that way?”
“I’m strongly considering it. And I’m more resolved to consider it after this trip.”
