ScottsMiracle-Gro, a lawn care company based in Ohio, has pledged $1 million to restore the South Lawn of the White House following damage from the UFC Freedom 250 event held on June 14, 2023.
The UFC event coincided with President Trump's 80th birthday and resulted in significant damage to the lawn. In response, ScottsMiracle-Gro announced its commitment to assist in the restoration efforts.
The company will provide both monetary support and a special blend of grass to the National Park Service for the restoration. The project is expected to be completed by next spring.
The donation highlights the intersection of corporate philanthropy and political affiliations, as well as the potential scrutiny of corporate motives in public projects.
